Brand Consistency on Social Media

creating a brand guideline color palette

Brand consistency is key to increasing brand awareness and recognition across social media platforms. Brand consistency ensures uniform ideas, values, and an identity for your company, which are integral to creating trust and credibility among your audience. Boost your brand consistency with some of our tips and tricks below.

Create a Style Guide

One of the easiest ways to ensure consistency is to create a style guide that outlines your brand’s visual identity. This guide should at least include a color palette, font(s), and chosen icons. Having these visual elements of your brand clearly established in one place makes it easy to distribute to different members of your team as a reference for your visual social media identity.

Develop a Visuals Library

Create a folder to keep approved visuals that align with your brand identity and style guide. In developing this visuals library, determine which types of visual media you plan to post (images vs. graphics, etc.) and how frequently you plan to post each. With the visuals library collected, content creators can see approved media, and consistent photos will ensure your brand’s posts are instantly recognizable.

Define Company Mission/Values

(and post about them!)

Determine the values and mission of your brand and incorporate them consistently into your posts. By posting about these values, you signal your brand’s commitment to them, maintain a common theme among posts, and allow followers to understand what your brand stands for.

Establish a Brand Voice

The voice of your brand will set it apart uniquely from others. Develop and establish a voice (like a personality) to use consistently across social platforms, keeping in mind your target audience. Does your brand use hashtags? Emojis? Always? Only sometimes? Even if different people are creating content for your social platforms, it should seem as though the same person is “speaking” on every post.

Post at a Consistent Frequency

To keep your brand at the forefront of your audience’s mind and develop predictability and trust, post consistently and remain active on all social platforms. The quantity of posts/week will vary based on the brand, but select a set number of posts/week and adjust as needed (keeping in mind not to overwhelm your audience with excessive posts).
