Sophia, Founder
Sophia's passion for social media marketing ignited during her college days when she realized it was the perfect intersection of creativity and data, with the untapped potential of social media platforms as a powerful tool for businesses to connect with their audience. After gaining valuable experience in a larger marketing agency, she started Olive and Milo, her own smaller firm, to help businesses across diverse communities and sectors. Since launching in early 2017, O&M has expanded its client base from local Vermont businesses to entrepreneurs and companies across the US and Canada. Sophia is actively at the forefront of the digital marketing field, staying current with certifications and immersing herself and her team in industry news, education, and emerging technologies. Beyond her work at Olive and Milo, Sophia holds leadership roles within her community, serving on the Vermont Commission on Women and The Governor's Institute of Vermont, embodying her commitment to driving positive change beyond the realm of marketing.
Kayla Christopher
Kayla joined the O&M team in 2020 as a University of Vermont student intern while studying Public Communications, joining the team full-time shortly after graduation. Kayla's time with O&M has been spent working closely alongside clients to manage their organic social channels, and as the team has grown, she has transitioned into a leadership role while keeping up with the day-to-day activities of social. After six years of living in Vermont, Kayla is now Boston-based but returns to VT for a good paddle board sunset, Als French Fries, and of course, a day spent working on Champlain with the team.
Emily Hoffman
Emily graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2018 with a BA in Environmental Sociology and Studio Art, offering a unique framework for creative brainstorming for clients and design work. Even though Emily lived in Vermont for four years after college, it wasn’t until moving to Portland, ME, that she joined the Olive & Milo team to specialize in content creation and strategies for organic growth. Over the last few years, Emily has collaborated with a wide range of clients, from small businesses to enterprises, working on a flower farm, and leading self-supported bike tours for students across the United States and Europe. When not at her computer, you can find her swimming in the ocean or back on her bike, exploring all of the beautiful corners of Maine.
Julia Helal
Julia joined the O&M team almost two years ago as an intern while studying Public Communications at the University of Vermont. Focusing in strategic communications, Julia is passionate about writing, content creation, public relations, and all things social. In her time with Olive and Milo, she has helped businesses tell their unique stories and reach target audiences by creating strategic content and innovative campaigns. Julia's creativity and problem-solving skills are essential for the fast-paced and ever-evolving world of social media. Outside the office, Julia can be found enjoying the sun's warmth by the scenic Lake Champlain or on a travel adventure!
How It All Began
Sophia has always believed that marketing is all about the right person at the right place at the right time and that the internet can make anything possible.
As a social experiment when Instagram was just taking off, she used the power of the internet to build an Instagram account with over forty thousand followers—dedicated to her pet mini pig Olive—and learned the ins and outs of prolific engagement and catering to an ever-growing audience. When Sophia was ready to start her own business, she aptly named her company Olive and Milo after the duo that started it all.
Since launching in early 2017, Olive and Milo Social has expanded its client base from local Vermont businesses to entrepreneurs and companies in locations across the country. As algorithms rapidly change and platforms evolve, Sophia keeps Olive and Milo Social at the forefront of the field by immersing herself and her team in the news, education, and technology within the digital marketing world. Olive and Milo Social has sprouted from a creative idea into a flourishing business, and Sophia can’t wait to help you do that with your business, too.
